Tired of paying high prices for DVD's or waiting ages for a new release? Then why not make your DVD player region free, using one of our easy to enter codes specifically for your player, this will enable you to play DVD's from any region (country).
What is region protection?
Because DVDs are subject to the same issues of piracy and market sharing that govern the entire video industry, DVD region encoding was introduced to set geopolitical boundaries for compatibility of DVDs and players. For instance, a DVD encoded for Region 1 can only be played on a Region 1 (U.S. and Canadian) DVD player.
Currently there are six global DVD regions, and DVD manufacturers can encode their product to play in any combination of regions.
- REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
- REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
- REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
- REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
- REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
- REGION 6 -- China
- REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.
- REGION 7-- Reserved
- REGION 8-- Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.)
The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs. That is until now!
To check if we have a region hack for your DVD player, either use our apabetical search or search by entering the manufacturers name of your DVD player in the search hacks menu. Note: for best results do NOT need to enter your specific manufacturers model number, just enter the manufacture name.
